Hey! Wait just a minute…. I see something familiar… Those are MY boots! Alas, who can get mad at faces as sweet as these? Wait. Forget that last question.

Ron Santo died this morning. I’m sad he was never voted into the Hall of Fame while he was still alive. It’s hard to imagine Cubs baseball without him, but I guess we fans survived without Harry Carey and we’ll do the same now. Folks in New York are snowed in and expecting more snow. [...]

After a VERY late basketball game last night, practice was cancelled today. Hooray! Now we get a lazy, rainy day at home. No rush to get school done before we have to leave and time for the little things that make life fun. We have a blazing fire going in the stove, but the back [...]

Sorry, I’ve been busy watching Wimbledon. It’s hard to express the sheer awesomeness of Isner vs. Mahut Okay, not really, but it sounded like a great excuse. I haven’t even seen the last US team’s World Cup match. Yet. I’ve just been doing what homeschool moms tend to do when there are but five weeks [...]

Interestingly, Sharon Astyk blogged about unschooling this week. She does touch on some of the things that were troubling me. I still like many of the ideas about unschooling, but it just doesn’t ‘feel’ right in our home school. Maybe it’s about me and my control issues and maybe that’s not a bad thing. I [...]

If our first year was the year of Speed Racer, our second year was the year of Molasses Slow. After being warned by many homeschool ‘experts’ that it is impossible to find the perfect curriculum during your first year, I decided to use The Well Trained Mind for the older two and send Flower Child [...]

This picture is my favorite. I’ve wanted to post it for a long time, but first I had to sift through all the old-fashioned photographs in boxes and FIND it! And… because they’re so cute… Even earlier school days:

I couldn’t resist snapping this picture. Big sister and little sister sitting side by side on big sister’s bed, working on their math. Flower Child has an old laptop sitting in front of her (it doesn’t even turn on) so she can be just like Princess with her laptop (which is running Saxon Teacher).
God's timing is always perfect!

Princess rolled her ankle during her very first basketball game of the season. Badly. Monday we will prayerfully find out that it is not broken and nothing is torn or seriously damaged. Yes, she’s struggling a bit with ‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, [...]
