I’m still alive!

Following our week of six basketball games in eight days, along with two birthdays, Princess and I found ourselves afflicted with the malady du jour. Head cold. Ugh. Rooster had finished his three weeks of hacking cough and clogged nasal passages and was well on the mend when the two of us got that first tell-tale symptom, The Sore Throat. Princess, a week ahead of my schedule, is nearly recovered, suffering now only from a mild cough. I have another week to go. Bleh. Meanwhile, Flower Child woke up with the tiny cough and Sore Throat this morning. Gotta love February!
Lack of the ability to breath deeply through my nostrils has a way of stunting my creativity. Lack of sleep due to said blockage in my nasal passages has a way of stunting my creativity. It isn’t good for my Scrabble game, either!
Lots of time sitting on the couch wrapped in blankets lends itself to deep thinking. Most of my deep thinking going back to this time last year. Rooster was dying, although we didn’t know it at the time. His body was deep into the throws of DKA and in one week we will celebrate recognize the one year anniversary of his diabetes diagnosis. I first took him to the doctor on February 15th, but our pediatrician attributed his symptoms to the pneumonia he was battling. It was one week later, when we returned and Rooster was much, much worse that they finally ran the tests for diabetes. So many emotions, even today. I’m not quite ready to put them out for the world to read, though.
Maybe next week.
So glad you are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, a year. He looks the picture of health now.
Good to know you are feeling better physically. Nice to have you back and posting again.
Apparently I don’t know the story of your ds. Diabetes and DKA. Not something I know much about. I’d be happy to hear the story when you’re ready to blog about it.
Welcome back.
