Ugh. I deleted this entire post! Fortunately, I had my blog open in another window and was able cut & paste it! If it looks a little different and the date is different, now you know why. And Melynda’s comment is kaput, too. Ugh. At least I have the text!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rats, rats, rats. I knew I shouldn’t have said anything about my dressed up kitties! I really and truly was not out fishing for complements. I am completely happy to blog away about sweet nothings and, hopefully, once in a blue moon give you a good chuckle. Aspiring to be more than I am would require, wel…. THOUGHT. Haven’t I mentioned before my disdain of thinking? I have to wonder, too, if the Lutheran blog-o-sphere has run out of bloggy folks that have not already received said award. Aside from me, we tend to be a thinky lot. (Ugh! Which makes me wonder… can I nominate someone who has already won one?)
And now the pressure is on. Melynda has nominated me for a Thinking Blogger award. I was “thinking” about ignoring her
, and I was also “thinking” about NOT putting the little doo-dad in my sidebar until I realized that with the doo-dad firmly in place I won’t have to live in fear of someone trying to nominate me again. And, of course, that is assuming that I can actually figure out how to put a doo-dad in my sidebar in the first place. The stress is INCREDIBLE!
(Aside: This is an EMERGENCY! Send chocolate quick. I prefer 70% cocoa dark…)
All humour aside, I am very honored that Melynda chose me. And I will now play along with the rules. Rules? Rules, you say? Yes! There are rules. Don’t give me that… I know y’all have seen them floating around the world wide web! But, the rules say I have to post the rules. So, here goes.
Rules are–
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.
3. Optional: Proudly display the Thinking Blogger Award with a link to the post that you wrote
(I’ll skip the “optional” since Melynda linked to the whole blog and not an individual post. STOP! Stop spewing your hot chocolate on the screeen. It wasn’t THAT funny!)
FIVE BLOGS THAT MAKE ME THINK
1. Farming in the Shade by my friend Lona. She lives on a farm in Michigan and just recently posted one of my all-time favorite blog posts. I mean, this one REALLY made me think!
2. I’ve recently discovered Hidden Art through another blog that I read. The name alone should be enough to identify it as a thinking blog, at least those of familiar with Edith Schaeffer would know that. I have to nominate the whole blog for this one because she makes me think almost every single time she writes.
3. I linked to Hidden Art from Musings of a Southern Girl at Heart, who is my third nominee. Okay, I tried to pick a specific “thinky” post, but got caught up in reading and remembering. Although I am a Yankee living in the south, I identify with nearly everything she writes and I admire her ability to try new things with her sewing. She even bought a book written in JAPANESE once for patterns. And used it!
4. Less is More is another blog that really makes me think. What can I say? She’s my kindred spirit. Only she has more courage. Her family has actually lived off-grid in a yurt. I live on the road in a house.
And I have to stop there. All this thinking (without chocolate, btw) is making my head hurt! There are many, many more blogs that make me think, but alas, they’ve all already received Thinking Blogger awards and I won’t even try to list them all lest I forget someone and hurt their feelings.
Hoo boy (said in my best Eeyore voice). I am flattered, truly I am. But now the pressure is on to deliver. And all I really wanted to blog about today was the potholes in our gravel road!
Thanks so much! Sometimes I wish I could just quit thinking for awhile. I need the quiet.
Too bad I can’t list you as a thinking blogger. I find your blog quite yummy.
I’ve been on the move, so doing catch up reading tonight.
