Or… Why I Haven’t Been Blogging Lately.
VISITATION
Okay, visitors would be the correct way to say it, but it didn’t sound as catchy in the title. Princess’s friend from Illinois and her mom came to visit for five days. Lots of fun, little blogging. The following week, 4th of July, we had Big Daddy home for the whole week. His daddy visited for five days, overlapping a visit by my parents for a couple of days. My mommy and daddy didn’t leave until Sunday. No complaints! The roof is FINISHED! The soffit looks great and my dad and Big Daddy did a bunch of other chores around the homestead. They even moved the dogs’ kennel away from the house. Hooray! No more icky smell.
VACATION
Last week we took a mini vacation odyssee through the southern midwest. Beginning in Paducah and ending in Columbus, Indiana, via Paris, Illinois and Terre Haute and Bloomington, Indiana. It was loads of fun. We ate, swam, ate, and had a picnic with a bunch of my imaginary friends and their dc. It was perfect – our kids ages line up perfectly, a couple of other dads came, and everyone had someone to play with. My only complaint was that it didn’t last long enough. Or maybe it lasted too long…. my cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing so much! Kentucky, Wisconsin, Indiana, Utah, Colorado, and Ethiopia were represented at our gathering.
VOCATION
We arrived home to a garden full of produce that needed to be picked and preserved. And a kitchen full of ants that needed (still need!) to be exterminated! Mix in Art Camp, finishing our homeschool plans for the fall (including actually ordering the books), laundry, soduko, and all of the other little details that go along with my vocation as wife of a wannabe farmer and mother of three. I’d love to say that everything is preserved and packed away, but we spent this morning in the garden again and now I’m inundated with MORE cucumbers and zucchini and a slew of tomatoes that need to ripen just a bit before I can them. Good thing we’re going to the movies tonight, the dining room table has been taken over by vegies!
I have lots of thoughts stewing in my head for future blogs. I’ve also been thinking about Ma’s blog – don’t worry, I haven’t forgot it, just haven’t had time to properly research the ideas of have. Lastly, I’ve been thinking about starting my own blog award. Lots of my blogging buddies have won the Thinking Blogger Award (and well they should, these guys are great writers and frequently provoke me to deeper thought). I was thinking there should be something like the Frivolous Blogger Award or the Irrelevant Blogger Award. Of course, *I* would be the first winner.

How about The Best Blog Worth Wasting Your Time? I’d have to put Bent Objects and Engrish.com up for nomination.
