Alternative Education

A while ago I ranted about the inflation of the four-year college degree.
How about something like the John C. Campbell Folk School? I know I’m a little strange, but throughout my adult life (and probably most of my childhood, too) I’ve always wanted to study somewhere like this. Unfortunately, I have children to teach and feed these days and before I had children the money wasn’t there to finance that type of education. I was busy working to pay for my OTHER (not very exciting) education. Why not let our kiddos do something like this (or maybe apprentice on an organic farm) instead of paying for a four-year college degree?
I confess, I did not come up with this idea all on my own. I was off surfing through the blog-o-shere and happened across Chelsea’s Adventures. She’s currently a student at the Folk School.
Seed planted.
